He has founded in 1953 the Shiki Theatre Company in Japan for which he has produced and directed almost every production of internationally acclaimed musicals and plays such as <STRONG>The Phantom of the Opera<\/STRONG>, <STRONG>Mamma Mia!<\/STRONG>, <STRONG>West Side Story<\/STRONG>, <STRONG>A Chorus Line<\/STRONG>, <STRONG>Evita<\/STRONG>, <STRONG>Cats <\/STRONG>and many others including several plays by Shakespeare and Moliere.  Shiki is the only theatre company in Japan that can produce years\u2019 open long run production in Japan. He has also produced and directed long run tours and productions of musicals such as <STRONG>Jesus Christ Superstar<\/STRONG>, <STRONG>Beauty and the Beast <\/STRONG>and The <STRONG>Lion King in <\/STRONG>Seoul, Singapore and several Chinese cities. He has directed several opera productions including <STRONG>Turandot <\/STRONG>(Puccini) for La Scala in Milan, <STRONG>Elektra <\/STRONG>(R. Strauss) for the Salzburg Festival and this production of <STRONG>Madama Butterfly <\/STRONG>(Puccini) for La Scala which was then presented also in the opera houses of Valencia, Tokyo, Florence and Santiago de Chili. He was also the executive producer of the opening and closing ceremonies of the Nagano Winter Olympics in 1998. In 2014 he left the Shiki Theatre Company and founded his own independent production office for which he produced and directed <STRONG>Ondine<\/STRONG>, <STRONG>Whose Life Is It  Anyway?<\/STRONG>,<STRONG> Antigone <\/STRONG>and other productions.
