Yaron Gottfried was born in Israel. He is a multidisciplinary musician who bridges classical, contemporary and jazz music in his work as composer, conductor and pianist. Gottfried was music director and principal conductor of the Netanya-Kibbutz Orchestra between 2002-2013 presenting fresh revolutionary programs with great success. He graduated from the Rubin Academy of Music in Jerusalem under Maestro Mendi Rodan. Gottfried was awarded Israel\u2019s Prime Minister Award for composers in 2014. His compositions, which bring together a fusion between genres and styles, are published by Sikorski international music. Gottfried is a frequent guest at Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. In October 2016, he conducted eleven season opening concerts of the IPO with major soloists such as Yefim Bronfman, Khatia Buniatishvili and the Prague Philharmonic Choir. He regularly conducts major orchestras worldwide including the WDR Funkhausorcheste, Maggio Musicale in Florence, China Philharmonic Orchestra, Beijing Symphony, Tbilisi Symphony ,Th\u00fcringen Symphony, Budapest Concert Orchestra, Debrecen Philharmonic, Kodaly Philharmonic, New Chamber Orchestra and Chorus of Potsdam, Brazos Valley Symphony, La Crosse Symphony, Portland Chamber Orchestra, Vancouver Symphony, Salta Symphony Barcelona Symphonic Band, Manila Philharmonic, Tallinn Festival Orchestra, Israel Symphony Orchestra Rishon LeZion, Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, Israel Chamber Orchestra, the Israel Camerata Jerusalem, Raanana Symphonette, Beer-Sheva Sinphonietta and others.
In 2014, he released a new CD of his version of Pictures at an Exhibition Remake for jazz trio and orchestra at the GPR label distributed by Naxos. The album received great reviews from Fanfare magazine and in the Israeli press. Gottfried is the head of the Composition and Conducting Department at Rimon School for Contemporary Music and Jazz. The I. C. Excellence Foundation selected Gottfried as its chosen artist for 2003-07. He is a member of the prestigious MacDowell Colony in the USA. Gottfried\u2019s deep musical interests in jazz led him to perform with major jazz artists such as Eddie Gomez, Eddie Daniels, Didier Lockwood, Dave Liebman, Ira Sullivan, Randy Brecker, Georgie Fame, Kitty Margolis, Benny Golson and Jimmy Heath to name a few.
