Julia Pevzner was born in Russia and immigrated to Israel in 1991. She has directed many opera production in Israel and abroad including The Tsar\u2019s Bride <\/b>(Rimsky-Korsakov) at the Bolshoi in Moscow, Boris Godunov<\/b> (Mussorgsky) in Chicago, San Francisco and Houston, Yevgeni Onegin<\/b> (Tchaikovsky) and La boheme<\/b> (Puccini) in Virginia, Pique Dame<\/b> at the Dallas Opera, as well as Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk<\/b> (Shostakovich) and others at the Israeli Opera.<\/p>\n
Her productions of Der Rheingold and Die Walk\u00fcre<\/b> were performed at the Metropolitan Opera in 2007, and her production of Shostakovich\u2019s The Nose<\/b> won the Best of Boston prize in 2009.<\/p>\n
She has also directed several world premieres of operas by Israeli composers including The Happy Prince<\/b> (Gil Shohat), The Inn of Spirits<\/b> (Moshe Zorman), Golem 13<\/b> (Noam Sheriff) and The Wondrous Woman Within Us<\/b> (Osnat Netzer).
