Anja Bukovec, violinist, was born in Slovenia where she lived until the age of thirteen and began her musical studies and continued her studies at the Music Conservatory in Prague and later on at the School of Higher Musical Education in K\u00f6ln. During her studies she received numerous awards in international competitions for young violinists. Since embarking on her professional career she performed as soloist with the Slovenian Philharmonic Society, the Symphonic Orchestra of RTV Slovenia, the Philharmonic Society of Rijeka, the orchestra of Anton Webrn from Vienna and the Philharmonic Society of Belgrade. She also appears regularly as a recitalist and chamber music performer in concerts in Slovenia, Austria, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Serbia, Croatia, Romania, Australia and in China. In March 2007, she released her debut CD, Gemini, with works by Stravinsky, Piazzolla and Gershwin.
