Shira Raz, mezzo-soprano, was born in Israel. She graduated with honors from Mannes University in New York in 2002. Her repertoire includes roles such as: Ennio in La commemoratione de Titus , Cherubino in The Marriage of Figaro , Dorbella in So They Do (Mozart) and more. During her studies in New York, she regularly appeared in recitals, festivals and concerts in various settings in the city. She also participated in the Chamber Music Festival in Switzerland. She performed in an original work with Renana Raz’s dance company. She has won scholarships from various foundations including the America-Israel Cultural Foundation and the Israeli Association for Operatic Arts, the Besser, Grabow Scholarship and the Commercial-Industrial Club Scholarship. Shira Raz was a member of the Israeli Opera’s Opera Studio program where her repertoire included Cenerentola and Tissaba in La Cenerentola (Rossini), Hansel in Hansel and Gretel (Humperdink) and the Second Lady in The Magic Flute (Mozart). She performed in concerts with the Rishon LeZion Israel Symphony Orchestra, the Israeli Chamber Orchestra, the Raanana Symphonie Orchestra, and more, and also performed at the Abu Ghosh Festival. She sang the roles of Bastien in Bastien and Bastienne (Mozart) with the Ramat Gan Chamber Orchestra and Tamiri in Die Fledermaus (Mozart) with the Israeli Chamber Orchestra. She performed the solo role in Johannes Passion (Bach) with the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra. She participated in the Jerusalem International Chamber Music Festival. Performed the Cherubino in The Marriage of Figaro (Mozart) with the Haifa Symphony Orchestra in a production by Opera Studio.
