Anastasia Kalavan, soprano, was born in Ukraine. She was a member of the Opera Studio of the Israeli Opera where her repertoire included Gretel in Hansel and Gretel (Humperdink), the First Lady in The Magic Flute (Mozart), Eurydice in Orfeo and Eurydice (Gluck), as well as Belinda in Dido and Aeneas (Purcell) including a performance in Stuttgart and the Countess in The Marriage of Figaro (Mozart) with the Haifa Symphony Orchestra. Her repertoire also includes Donna Anna in Don Giovanni (Mozart), Tatiana in Eugene Onegin (Tchaikovsky), the Infanta in The Dwarf (Zemlinsky) and other roles. She has won Grabow, Besser, Silverman, and America-Israel Cultural Foundation scholarships.
