Gun-Brit Barkmin, soprano, was born in Germany. Her repertoire includes the title role in Salome and in Ariadne auf Naxos (R. Strauss), Marie in Wozzeck (Berg), Katerina Ismailova in Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk (Shostakovich), Emilia Marty in The Markopoulos Case (Janacek), Isolde in Trista und Isolde, Sieglinde in Die Walkure, Brunnhilde in Gotterdammerung (Wagner), Ghita in Der Zwerg (Zemlinsky), the Governess in The Turn of the Screw, Ellen Orford in Peter Grimes (Britten), Regan in Lear (Reimann), Marietta in Die tote Stadt (Korngold) and others. She performs at the Vienna Staatsoper and in the opera houses of Hamburg, Florence, Munich, Zurich, Stuttgart, Graz, Hong Kong, Madrid, Paris and others. This is her Israeli Opera debut.
