Fisch Asher, conductor

Born in Israel. He is the principal conductor and artistic advisor of the West Australian Symphony Orchestra in Perth. He was the principal guest conductor of the Seattle Opera and the music director of the Volksoper in Vienna. His vast operatic repertoire ranges from Gluck to contemporary works. Recent opera productions include Il trovatore, Otello (Verdi), Die fliegende Hollander, Tannhauser (Wagner), Andrea Chenier (Giordano), Arabella, Capriccio (R. Strauss), Hansel und Gretel (Humperdinck) and others. He conducts regularly in the opera houses of Munich, Dresden, Tokyo, Palermo, Madrid and others and conducts regularly leading symphony orchestras all over the world. His recordings of Der Ring des Nibelungen (Wagner) won numerous international awards. Asher Fisch was music director of the Israeli Opera between 1998-2008 and conducted numerous production with the company including Elektra, Der Rosenkavalier, Ariadne auf Naxos (R. Strauss), The Turn of the Screw (Britten), Turandot, Tosca (Puccini), Wozzeck (Berg), Rusalka (Dvorak) and many others.
