Maria Zifchak  was born in the USA. Her repertoire includes Serena Joy in The Handmaid’s Tale (Ruders), Suzuki in Madama Butterfly (Puccini), the Third Lady in Die Zauberflote (Mozart), Swiss Grandmother in The Death of Klinghoffer (Adams), Mrs. Lovett in Sweeney Todd (Sondheim), Herodias in Salome (R. Strauss), Mrs, McLean in Susannah (Floyd), Mrs. Gorse in The Turn of the Screw (Britten), the Mother in Hansel und Gretel (Humperdinck), Ruth in The Pirates of Penzance (Sullivan), Brian’s Mother in Two Boys (Muhly) and others. She performs regularly at the Metropolitan Opera in New York as well as in the opera companies of Atlanta, Boston, Seattle, Kansas City, Madrid, English National Opera and others. This is her Israeli Opera debut.
