Guy Jossten was born in Belgium. He began his career as a theatre director in Belgium, Amsterdam and Vienna and started directing opera in 1991. His many opera productions include La Cenerentola (Rossini), Un ballo in maschera (Verdi),  Romeo et Juliette (Gounod), Don Giovanni, Cosi fan tutte, Le nozze di Figaro (Mozart), Lucrezia Borgia (Donizetti), Salome, Elektra, Die Frau ohne Schatten, Die schweigsame Frau (R. Strauss), Le Cid (Massenet),  Les Dialogues de Carmelites (Poulenc) and many others. He works at all leading international opera houses including the Metropolitan Opera in New York, Monte Carlo, Zurich, Antwerp, Geneva, Oviedo, Brussels, Essen, Bologna, Dusseldorf, London, Amsterdam, Helsinki, Barcelona, Hamburg and many others. This is his first work for the Israeli Opera.
