Gan-ya Ben-gur Akselrod was born in Israel. Her repertoire includes Tamiri in Semiramide, Almirena in Rinaldo (Handel), Servillia in La clemenza di Tito, Blonde in Die Entfhurung aus dem Serail, Despina in Cosi fan tutte (Mozart), the title role in Thais (Massenet), Nanetta in Falstaff (Verdi), Marfa in The Tsar’s Bride (Rimsky-Korsakov), Clorinda in La Cenerentola, Elvira in L’Italiana in Algeri (Rossini), Lucy in Dreigroschen Oper, Jenny in Aufsteig und Fall der Stadt Mahagonny (Weill) and Therese in Les Mamelles de Tiresias (Poulenc). She performed at the Teater an der Wien, Deutsche Oper Berlin, and the opera houses of Toulouse, Santiago de Chile, the Glyndebourne, Ravinia and Aix-en-Provence festivals and others. She received the Ronen Foundation, the IVAI and the AICF scholarships.
