Cohen Daniel, conductor

Daniel Cohen is Kapellmeister at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, where in the 2015/16 season he conducted Don Giovanni, Die Zauberflöte (Mozart),  Lucia di Lammermoor (Donizetti), La Traviata (Verdi) and Il Barbiere di Siviglia (Rossini). Daniel also conducted Massenet’s Don Quichotte At the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari and Mozart’s La clemenza di Tito with the Canadian Opera Company. In 2013/14 he was a Dudamel Fellow of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra for advanced training in conducting and music education. Daniel Cohen’s orchestral engagements included the Israel Philharmonic, the Milwaukee Symphony, the Tampere Philharmonic, the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne, Orchestra dell’Arena di Verona, the West Australian Symphony Orchestra the London Symphony Orchestra Chamber Ensemble, and the London Mozart Players. In 2013 Daniel conducted the Lucerne Festival Academy’s Composer Project where he worked alongside Pierre Boulez. He was previously Assistant Conductor to Daniel Barenboim at the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra. Daniel is Music Director of the Jersey Chamber Orchestra and Artistic Director of the Gropius Ensemble, which specializes in a synthesis of music and theatre, collaborating with actor Itay Tiran. Daniel was supported by the America-Israel Cultural Foundation throughout his studies.
