Vivaldi, Bellini and Rossini
The masked carnival in Venice, the floating city, has been taking place for hundreds of years. It is inspired by characters of the Commedia dell’Arte – street theater who featured specific characters clad in masks. But who will be the king and queen of this carnival? Perhaps they are dancing at one of the balls? Or marching in the costume parade at the Piazza San Marco to the strains of Vivaldi, Scarlatti, Rossini and other wonderful Venetian composers? The program features an ensemble playing period instruments, a singer, and a dance company in spectacular costumes and masks.
