Legendary Jazz Pianist Stefano Bolani
Returns to the Opera House Jazz Series
Friday, January 14 at the Opera House
The most popular Jazz season of the Israeli Opera continues on January 14 with renowned Italian jazz pianist Stefano Bolani who returns to the series after most successful previous visits. The season features five concerts with leading international jazz musicians in very special programs. Concerts take place on Fridays at 21:30 with live jazz music at the foyer starting one hour before the concert commences.
Bloani says that "It's great to be back! It's becoming almost an habitude...once a year in Tel Aviv… and each time I'm coming, I'm working on new projects, most of them are special productions made for the occasion, like the concert I did last year based on the music by the great Israeli composer Sasha Argov. And also a special production like the one I'm presenting this year.
It's almost the same band of the Argov project: Nico Gori on clarinet, Jesper Bodilsen on bass and Morten Lund on drums. These are musicians/friends I am used to work with since several years. Jesper and Morten are coming from Denmark; as a trio we recorded two albums for Stunt records (MI RITORNI IN MENTE and GLEDA) and the recent ECM release STONE IN THE WATER. Nico is a very old friend of mine playing with me in two different bands: the Bollani Carioca project based on Brazilian music and my oldest band in activity, the quintet named I VISIONARI.
In this case we are working on a particular kind of music, linked to the magical world of arranging famous rock and pop songs into jazz and it would be great to have the chance to improvise on that well known material in such an inspiring place as the Israeli Opera House, which always helped my music to flow thanks to the acoustic and the warm audience."
