Yuri Kissin was born in Siberia. He immigrated to Israel in 1990 and now resides in Paris. He was a member of the Paris Opera Studio and was regularly invited to sings supporting roles in operas such as Yevgeny Onegin (Tchaikovsky), Parsifal (Wagner), Les Contes d'Hoffmann (Offenbach), Rigoletto, Macbeth (Verdi) and others at the Paris National Opera. His repertoire includes in Un ballo in maschera (Verdi), Don Carlo (Verdi), Der Freischutz (Weber), L'Italiana in Algeri (Rossini), A Midsummer Night's Dream (Britten), in Tosca (Puccini), Pelleas et Melisande (Debussy) and many others. He performs regularly in the opera houses of Montpellier, Toulouse, Rennes, Toulon, Dijon, Nancy, Bordeaux and others. At the IVAI summer program he performed many roles including Masetto in Don Giovanni (Mozart), Publio in La Clemenza di Tito (Mozart), Colline in La boheme, Betto in Gianni Schicchi (Puccini), Dulcamara in L'elisir d'amore (Donizetti), the title role in Don Quichotte (Massenet) and others. He also performed Zuniga in Carmen (Bizet) with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra.
