Was born in France. He has been the Artistic Director of the Théâtre du Capitole de Toulouse and was recently appointed Director of the Opéra National de Paris, beginning from 2009/2010 season. He has directed, among others, Der Ring des Nibelungen, Parsifal, Lohengrin, Die Walküre (Wagner), Falstaff, Otello, Aida, Rigoletto, La traviata, Ernani, Un ballo in maschera, La forza del destino (Verdi), Yevgeni Onegin (Tchaikovsky), Salome (R. Strauss), Boris Godounov (Mussorgsky), Orphée et Euridice (Gluck) Tosca, La Rondine, Turandot (Puccini), Roméo et Juliette (Gounod), Andrea Chénier (Giordano), Carmen (Bizet), La Gioconda (Ponchielli), Dido and Aeneas (Purcell) and others. He worked at the ROH Covent Garden, the Chorégies of Orange, the Arena di Verona, Théâtre du Capitole de Toulouse, La Scala in Milano, San Francisco Wiesbaden, Copenhagen, Essen, Buenos Aires, Teatro Real Madrid, Teatro Massimo Palermo, Nancy, Montpellier, Opéra de Nice, Opéra du Rhin Strasburg, Opéra de Lyon, Opéra Paris, the Wiener Staatsoper, Zurich Opernhaus and others. |
