Schifano Mario, painter
Mario Schifano, painter, was born in Italy. He is considered as an icon of the Italian pop-art, inheritor of Andy Warhol. Among his most important works, is a series of Coca Cola and Esso paintings. His first pictures were the monochrome gialli (that many critics interpreted as an example of the neodadaismo). But soon they filled with images of the urban landscape: cartels, advertising writings, images - symbols, as that of Coca Cola. His studies was full of TV, photos, ready to catch and transform the image before painting it in the linen; later the procedure became more complicated since the computer was using to manipulate the image before forming it in the fabric.
